Thelma Jones, MD,
President of Options for Wellness, believes that staying healthy in
today's
world requires a holistic approach to the body, mind and spirit. "My
goal is to partner with my patients to create individualized,
personalized programs to meet their present health needs," explains Dr.
Jones.
Education is a very
important part of the care that Dr. Jones provides. Dr. Jones helps her
patients navigate the complex health maze and works as a caring and
compassionate health partner to help patients make decisions that attain
and sustain wellness. She explains, "When patients understand their
options, they feel less vulnerable and more in control of their destiny. Knowledge
increases awareness, and awareness increases empowerment."
Healing is key in Dr.
Jones' practice. Known as the "hugging" doctor, she believes
that the human connection of affection, understanding and acceptance
contributes to her patients' well being. She uses her medical training,
nutritional counseling, hypnosis, neurolinguistic programming, stress
management, lifestyle coaching, and other integrative therapies to help
patients achieve optimal wellness.
Dr. Jones is a
board-certified internist and hematologist, with more than 28 years
experience. She served as attending physician in medicine and as Chief
Emeritus of Hematology at White Plains Hospital Center, where she received
special recognition for her eight years of service as Chief of Hematology.
Broadening her view of
patient treatment, Dr. Jones embraced complementary and holistic healing
techniques to be sure that she left no stone unturned in providing the most
advanced medical care possible. Dr. Jones pursued training and
certification in numerous integrative therapies. She has completed
comprehensive training in hypnosis, homeopathy, and nutrition. Dr. Jones
is a Master Practitioner of both Ericksonian hypnosis and Neurolinguistic
Programming, and is a certified Reike Master. She continues to pursue
opportunities to learn new therapeutic techniques.
In addition to her
credentials above, Dr. Jones is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians,
National Board of Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist American Association of
Integrative Medicine, and American Psychotherapy Association. She is
certified in Hypnosis and Brief Psychotherapy and in Bioenergetic
healing. She is a member of the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis
and the American Holistic Medical Association.
Dr. Jones earned her
BA degree in psychology with honors from Barnard College of Columbia
University. She earned her medical degree Cum Laude from State University
of New York Downstate Medical Center with honors in Physiology, Pharmacology,
Pediatrics, and Environmental medicine. She is a past President and
member of the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society, Central
Westchester Unit. Dr. Jones received an American Medical Association
Recognition Award and is listed in Who's Who in American Women.
